Jan Wongse Raumland
Hello. I'm Jan Wongse Raumland, half Thai and half German. Born and raised in Germany.
Through many stages, from sommelier, to training as a winemaker at the Emrich-Schönleber winery, internships from the Ahr to South Africa, a permanent position with Klaus-Peter Keller, studying in Geisenheim and as a married man in Raumland - it was always my dream to have my own wine.
And here we are:
WongAmat - by Jan Raumland
The name WongAmat is a tribute to my roots.
A tribute to my Thai family Wongse-Amatyakul.
In Southeast Asia, the WongAmats are known for their outstanding craftsmanship, their social connections and a long tradition of charitable work.
As a member of the WongAmat family, I feel honored to be part of this rich history. The combination of artistic creativity and social commitment makes our family unique and inspires me to go my own way and carry on our traditions. WongAmat is not just a name, but a way of life that is characterized by art, culture and social commitment - a history that fascinates and makes me proud.
The wines
Under WongAmat by Jan Raumland I produce 100% red wines.
Red wines according to my taste: Fine, fruity, delicate.
I am a person of intuition and logic. I am a calm person, but I am always on edge.
It's like fire and water.
Anyone who walks with me through the vineyards will understand what I mean. Anyone who knows me knows that it is possible.
Whoever tries my wines tastes it.
No two days in nature are the same. Therefore, there is no recipe for making my wines.
It's a game between intuition and logic. But I do have a few principles.
100% organic and only the best - from the grape to the barrels to the cork.
Bürgel. Flörsheim-Dalsheim. Lime & Clay. East-facing slope & cool. 4 barriques
Rosengarten. Kriegsheim. Gravel & red soil. South-facing slope & warm. 6 barriques.
